ABOUT SNOOT BOOP RAGDOLLS
About Me and My Cattery: Passion and Preservation
My name is Roshiel Skorupa but feel free to call me Rose. I started Snoot Boop Ragdolls in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. A lifelong love for animals had me set on veterinary medicine and led to the cattery dream. I have spent years doing rehabilitation, foster care and adoptions through my time working and volunteering at animal shelters, clinics and hospitals.
In 2021 my cattery dream got to finally begin after a lot of research. I contacted TICA's mentorship program and was so fortunate to get connected with Stormi Nell of Familytime Rags. She has proven to be a great person and breeder helping preserve traditional lines. She is who started my love and appreciation of them. I have since dedicated myself to helping preserve traditional line Ragdolls.
I believe in breeding with purpose so I breed to the Ragdoll breed standard. My cats come from champion bloodlines including Regional Winners, Supreme and Quadruple Grand Champions. I am so fortunate to be able to focus on being a breeder full-time. I ensure each kitten receives lots of love and socialization through the day. Maintaining the Ragdoll personality and temperament is really important to me and something that should be a high priority in the breed.
My mission is to produce healthy, affectionate Ragdolls that stay true to the breed. I want to see loving, floppy kittens living long and healthy lives. You are not just getting a pet when you add a Snoot Boop Ragdoll to your family, you are becoming part of our commitment to preserving the breed's future as well as helping my dreams be a reality. I want to see the foundation of the breed we adore last for future generations to fall in love with as I have.

RAGDOLL CAT TRAITS
Temperament, Care and Fun Facts
Ragdolls are known for their striking blue eyes, point coats, affectionate nature and a need to be in your day. They are a very social breed that tends to bond with their family including kids and pets. A common trait is for them to go limp when you pick them up earning them the name Ragdoll.
There are many images online showing Ragdolls with features that are wildly against breed standard. Small round bear ears, flat faces, giant round eyes are all against the standard. Although they can make cats that have a hyper cuteness to them, they aren't traits that should be bred into the Ragdoll. Flat faces and weak chins can have negative affects on them such as their breathing and dental health. The breed standard calls for medium features which really show in traditional lines.
They are also meant to have a medium coat. It should be soft and often referred to as a bunny coat. It is not meant to be overly thick or fluffy though their coats do fill out more with cooler weather. Their coat is not supposed to be prone to matting though coats differ greatly in the breed. A stainless steel greyhound comb is suggested to maintain them.
Fun Fact: Toe tufts are a desirable trait in the breed.
Ragdolls From Traditional Lines
Traditional Ragdolls are those with at least 90% of their ancestral history tracing back to the original foundation cats developed by Ann Baker in Riverside, California in the early 1960's. "Traditional Ragdoll" is often misused in the Ragdoll community. Many breeders may refer to cats of traditional colors as "traditional Ragdolls". This does not mean they are Ragdolls from traditional lines.
What is a traditional line Ragdoll?
Most closely related to the cats that originally started the breed in the 1960's.
Come in Seal, Blue, Chocolate or Lilac as a point breed with eyes that are only blue.
Come in Mitted, Colorpoint and Bicolor (high mitted, mid high-white and high-white/van).
No non-traditional Ragdolls found in their pedigree (Red, Cream, Tortie, Lynx or Torbie).
No sepia, solid, or any other variant or Cherubim within their pedigree.
Known for their moderate features, gentle temperament and sometimes slower maturation.
RAGDOLL POPULARITY, PERSONALITY AND TEMPERAMENT
Ragdolls rank as the top breed of cat year after year. This means they are the most popular, widely owned breed of pedigree cat within the largest cat organizations. They are known for being loving, social and docile cats that tend to get along with most animals and well-mannered children.
Popular as emotional support pets and even trained as cats that visit elderly homes due to being known for a gentle and tolerant nature especially compared to the average cat. These cats love to be underfoot like your shadow. Some talk to you for attention (or food!). Even the ones that aren't lap cats still insist on being glued to your side and always being a part of your day. They really are exceptionally natured cats and I can't imagine not having a Ragdoll in my life.
RAGDOLL FACTS
Are Ragdolls the largest breed of cat?
Ragdolls are one of the largest domestic cat breeds. Males average 15 to 20 pounds. Females average 10 to 15 pounds. They take 3 to 4 years to reach full size.
Maine Coons are the largest breed of cat averaging 9 to 25 pounds and up. Norwegian Forest Cats are another large breed reaching 9 to 18 pounds. Then there are breeds like the Ragdoll, RagaMuffin, Siberian and Turkish Van which can all weigh around the same range of 9-20 pounds.
Ragdolls Only Have Blue Eyes.
Ragdolls are a point breed which means their eyes are only blue. They can range from a light almost ice blue to a very deep blue. The richer hues of blue tend to be more sought after.
Ragdolls Have Blue Eyes Because They Are A Point Breed.
Being a point breed means they always have blue eyes and that they are born white as kittens.
Fun Fact: Their coloration and pattern takes up to 2 to 3 years to develop.
My Ragdolls embody what the breed was meant to be: social, lovable companions that often go limp when held. A need for your attention makes Ragdolls perfect additions to any family. Especially for those looking for a devoted shadow cat that loves to be in your day. There is a reason this breed is often affectionately referred to as puppy cats. They are described as the dogs of the cat world.

A Guide to Ragdoll Coats and Point Breeds
Understanding Ragdoll Cat Colors
In the Ragdoll world many use terms like traditional colors and non-traditional colors.
A Ragdoll being one of the traditional colors does not mean it is from traditional lines.
Non-traditional line Ragdolls can come in traditional and non-traditional colors.
All traditional line Ragdolls can only be traditional colors.

Seal Point, Blue Point, Chocolate Point and Lilac Point Ragdolls
Understanding Ragdoll Patterns
Ragdolls are a point breed which means they only have blue eyes. Not aqua, teal, green or any other shade or color. Being a pointed breed affects every part of their coloration.
How Point Breeds Work
The points or ends of the cat are darker than the rest of them (face, ears, legs, feet and tail). Being a point breed means Ragdolls are born white. A Ragdoll's coat colors and pattern reach full development around 2-3 years of age. Point breeds only have blue eyes. It is a genetic mutation that involves temperature-sensitive pigment production. Warmer areas have reduced pigment production making darker pigmentation on the cooler extremities (face, ears, paws, legs and tail).
Ragdolls are born white

Their color develops slowly

Color takes 2-3 years to develop
3
Fun Fact: The 3 pictures above show the same cat as he grows up so you can see how a Ragdoll's color comes in. He is a blue point mitted Ragdoll named SnootBoop Blueberry (Purple collar).
Ragdolls Come in 3 Main Patterns
The 3 main Ragdoll patterns are Mitted, Colorpoint and Bicolor. Regardless of what color or pattern overlay (tortie, lynx and torbie) a Ragdoll has, it will always still come in 1 of the 3 patterns.

Fun fact: Pairing 2 mitted together is how you can get all 3 patterns in 1 litter.

Bicolor also has 3 types: High mitted, mid high-white and high-white/van. High mitted are what we most commonly see here in the US because they happen from pairing 2 mitted together.

Fun fact: Mitted have both colored paw pads on the front paws as well as pink on them where the white is on the mittens. Their back legs have white boots making those paw pads all pink.
Ragdolls Can Come In 3 Pattern Overlays
Ragdolls can have 1 of 3 pattern overlays: Tortie (from the Red gene), Lynx (tabby stripes) or Torbie (both Tortie and Lynx together).

Lynx stripes follow the rules of whatever pattern they come in (bicolor, colorpoint and mitted). Torties follow no rules with their mix of colors being allowed anywhere even if it "breaks" pattern.

You can see 2 blue tortie point bicolor Ragdolls below. Their colors are blue with cream (from the red gene) since they are dilute. You can see Elsa's blue and cream sides just like Plum's.
Fun fact: Plum is Elsa's mom!
